Swanage Railway General Discussion

They were certainly not running to the regular D Ex timings Monday, where there was a slightly altered timetable for the day anyway. I saw it cross at Corfe coming back once, but other runs seem to be after the service train. I had to drop the wife in the town just before 14:00 and they came back around then and then shunted to the bay and went out after the 14:30 departure.

 

Departs Swanage: 0910, 1030, 1150
Departs Norden: 0950, 1110, 1230

There is a wedding in the afternoon using 60163 and 33012, so there are only 3 round trips on the driver ex before 60163 goes off to work the wedding train.

Being halfway through the U and N class 25 yeardeal, is there any talk of them ending the agreement half way throught as I'm sure I read there was a get out clause? With the 4MT returning for 2027 plus hopfuly the M7 Swanage wont be short on 'active' locos.

Although I never thought of looking at yesterday, (did check tomorrow) rather strange that if you search on RTT for the move it will show up on a Wareham search but not a Swanage one, despite having a so called departure on the record. Although these always seem a bit hit and miss, but the path usually shows.

D6515 appears to be on tour at the moment. After visiting the Bluebell and Bodmin railways, the loco is now hauling 31.210 from Bodmin to Burton Wetmore Sidings. <BJ>

It would be nice to see the T3 face Swanage when it returns from Yorkshire. I appreciate that the watering of the loco at Swanage and the stiff climb to Harmans may make that unwise. <BJ>

 

I should imagine that work like this will become rarer as time goes on as less drivers sign for them and route knowledge of those that do dwindles
