A few days ago Krauss Nr. 5 was in steam at the heritage railway in Mladejov na Morave, an former industrial railway used for the mining of fireclay.

This giant 0-6+2 Engerth style tank engine is the largest 600 mm gauge steam loco in Central Europe and was built by Krauss in Linz, Austria in 1929. Yes 600 mm is almost Welsh gauge, which is 597 in metric and it's almost a "two footer" for anyone from the US and familiar with the historic back woods narrow gauge lines in Maine, like the Sany River & Rangeley Lakes, which were 610 mm.

Back to Central Europe and the Mladejov railway, it also has Krauss Nr. 1 from 1920 in its fleet, but this is currently out of use due to necessary boiler repairs.

The line is quite scenic and winds itself through fields and sweeping scenery, before disappearing into the woods.

Here is some steam footage with Krauss Nr. 5 in the attractive Czech scenery.
