Yes I am an active volunteer
I was the PM fireman yesterday, drove the return run. It was a little slippy in places but given it’s not doing what it’s built to do I wasn’t surprised. That run up round Miners to Highley was bit tedious though

After its appearance at the SVR Gala , Scots Gaurdsman returns home to Carnforth and is seen going well along the WCML at Sytch Lane, Mill Meece. IMG_2643.jpg

Completely understandable - was very challenging conditions. Likewise I was a little concerned at one point that you'd need some assistance getting out of Bridgnorth!

I notice that today's 6024 move from Crewe to the Nene Valley goes through Peterborough, then to Ely, before returning to Peterborough and onto the NVR. I assume that this is to turn the loco, but why can't it straight onto the NVR when it passes Peterborough the first time and then turn on Wansford turntable?

No idea, but the first thing that would come to mind is whether the turntable is long enough to take a King?

Weight rather than length is the issue I believe.

When Tornado visited in the summer I photoed it facing Wansford on 04/07/ ,then facing peterboro on 12/07 .Maybe it left NVR / or Split engine and tender/ or risk it on the t/table. March was the usual place to go to turn ,there is a short spur up from March Est jnc to the long closed Wisbech line.
