… including the first train (the Baguley-Brewery railcar) for 50 years.

If it goes wrong, you do stand of failing to organise the proverbial though...

Congrats to the Rother Valley Team, amazing progress!

The latest youtube video includes a driver's-eye view (from the Baguley-Brewery) of a long length of the relaid track. Looks just like the KESR :) but then I suppose it would (it's the curves). It's also clear that quite soon, as surrounding undergrowth returns over a very few years, this bit of railway will look like it never went away.

I almost can't wait for that length to be reconnected at the ends! I gather some major engineering projects (bridges, level crossings) will have to go in before that can happen, though. (Shouldn't be too long, though; many/most of them seem to be already planned.)

New blog post from earlier today here.

This has pictures of laying the second track of the passing loop. All we need now are the points

And the ballast.. And the tamping.. And the fences.. There's a lot to be done still. But what has been done so far is magnificent! :)

I had been noticing, in the images, that there was actually a fair amount of fencing there already. Now that I look at it closely, though, it might be the farmer's existing fencing; every so often, the exact same sort of fencing (low, with wire fencing on posts)) runs out at right angles to the line, along field edges. So, I gather that the installation of the line's has yet to start, it seems. I wonder if the line will be using contractors, or volunteers, for the installation of the line's?

This time last year there was no fencing, Noel. (at least on the Northern side of the track) so this is the railway's installation. Wether it is permanent, I know not, but logic says why do a job twice? It is stock-proof, so all that's required, really.

The new fencing looks like the same system thats used on the K&ESR now. Id guess its probably the same contractors. Only small and emergency repairs are done by volunteers. The rolling replaccement is done by the contractors. I think the same system is used by network Rail in certain locations.
