Let's hope it's the first of many.

Not much of a publicity stunt to eat a large humble pie. But if it means RTC can get back to what they were, it's very good news.

Why would you want to make a song and dance after everything that has transpired over the last few years ? I think this is much better , just quietly get on with it

Delighted to see Scots Guardman back on the railtour scene! I look forward to seeing when the other vacuum braked locos get their chance to pull mainline tours again.

I meant more for RTC as they have been advertising tickets for sale this week which might of been more in demand if it was known about the mk1 return.

I would assume given the locomotive for this trip was never formally announced, these Mk1 with CDL must have only just been finished otherwise they'd have been out last weekend on the Cumbrian Mountain Express. So probably RTC didn't want to risk promising something that might have ended up being Tangmere with Mk2's if they weren't ready in time.

A welcome return for a much loved locomotive. I don't think that West Coast should be given any grief over doing this without any fanfare. After all, I imagine that a few people in the company may be feeling a bit sheepish about the whole fuss over vacuum/CDL so credit where it is due.

Who'd have thought only a few years ago we'd be finding novelty in seeing West Coast's Mk1s on the mainline?! Lovely to see them return and for 46115 back on public mainline passenger duties (And a bonus excuse to travel up to the North East), hopefully it won't be long before we get to enjoy the sight of some of 10A's other vacuum only steam locos out on tours once more...

Here's some footage from the day's proceedings:
