There are quite a few extra things going on. Britomart will double head Welsh Pony on the 12:30 Port - TYB train on Saturday. Also footplate rides with Vellinheli at Porthmadog that day.
Sunday and Monday there are two Aberglaslyn services with Prince and Palmerston. In the layovers the train will work an extra Beddgelert - Hafod-y-llyn shuttle. So a good day for watching or riding behind England Engines and vintage coaches in the pass.

We've been staying in the area for 10 days or so, managing a 'Mountain Spirit' last Thursday and, due to the weather forecast, taking the 'Snowdonia Star' today from Waunfawr.

Whilst the biggest issue last week was slipping on James Spooner which cost us 15 minutes, today was a bit more dramatic as a spring collapsed on No 87, noticed on arrival at Rhyd Ddu. We were already about 15 minutes late at that point and we had to wait for a replacement engine (No. 143) to come up from Dinas. Total waiting time was about 110 minutes before we finally got going. Credit to the staff for sorting it out, although if I were being critical I would note that slightly more regular updates would have been useful.

Arrival at Porthmadog was about 2 hours late, and 25 minutes was cut from the scheduled layover time.

Passengers were very patient, although some of the 'enthusiasts' on board could do with learning basic social etiquette, particularly around family groups.

Thanks for that. Some unusual haulage. Will aim for some of those I think! At present I’m heading from Minffordd to Penrhyn behind JS. Somewhat damp in the toastrack - I have the coach to myself!

Great event this weekend at the WHHR “Everything rolls” gala.

Gelert and Baldwin 590 in steam alongside Emma and Glaslyn and a handful of the small diesel fleet.

How's 590 performing now she's had time to bed down a bit?

Rolling a lot better now it has more miles under it’s belt. The work on the regulator we have done has made it a really nice and controllable, coupling up is almost a pleasure.

It will still need some of the motion work replacing before it can stretch its legs further.

We are still training drivers on it so is currently only being used by a limited pool of people.

They post the roster every Monday on Facebook, it's just gone up. No Lyd this week, Taliesin is out daily on the WWs.

Richard - a very nice set of pics - looks like another really good Victorian Weekend (the FR's own YT report is worth a look too). I was about to book accommodation in Port. for this event next Autumn - but picked up on the FR's F/B that it has been moved from October to the midsummer weekend, in 2027.
I shall be sorry to miss the dawn and twilight trains - and the steam effects with the humid autumn weather - but most visitors will probably prefer lots of sun.....
Doubtless there'll be better weather - as long as it's not so much better that steam becomes a problem.

I enjoyed it a few two back (combined with Llangollen and GCR on the way home) and was thinking of going for more days next year (wasn't free this year). Does anyone know if there is a 'replacement' event in October, or just normal trains or not decided yet?
