Well yes, but unfortunately only cold! The Belgian state railway company SNCB/NMBS is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, but the national incumbent has not operated steam charters or other heritage specials on the main line in years. There seems no likely turn-around from this policy anytime soon, at least they exhibited their flagship vehicles this autumn at Liege-Guillemins in mid September and a month later at Antwerpen Central.

This short film footage shows these wonderful historic locomotives on display last weekend at Antwerpen Centraal, with the star attraction being the semi-streamlined 4-6-2 "Pacific" 1002 from 1935. This was actually last in steam with SNCB around the turn of the Millenium, so it's operational history is only a quarter of a century removed and not 50 years.

Here are impressions from these pretty, actually beautiful and oh so stylish Belgian locos.
