I think "upset" is somewhat strong - it just seemed an odd choice of name for a non-Pullman working which was going well beyond Bournemouth in any case. Quite a minor point, and much more of an observation than a complaint.

Due to 'an issue' (?) - 60103 Flying Scotsman could not be hauled to Swanage today for it's visit.
Rail Adventure's HST power cars 43465 & 43484 travelled down from Chaddesden Sidings to the GWS site at Didcot as planned this morning [albeit they seem to have set off very late but made up most of the time en route]: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:U07081/2026-10-20/detailed
In the hopes that 60103's 'issue' will be sorted in time, a new schedule has been created for tomorrow [Wednesday]: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service...1/detailed

Delayed by a late running SWR Southampton Bournemouth all stations FS arrival also meant the T3 was delayed on the 14:00 service.
As usual the loco seemed to gather a crowd bot on the platform and in Gilbert Road. DSC_0803.JPG DSC_0810.JPG DSC_0816.JPG

So some steam engines can go light engine with no diesel pilot and some can't. Duke of Gloucester went solo with its support coach when travelling to Bluebell for Giants of Steam.

I know Rail Adventure were advertising for steam drivers, but maybe they do not have any yet, or their licence may not yet include steam. No idea but I guess there is a good reason.

Not sure who the unlucky driver was on the 10:00 service but they did an amazing job actually getting Manston out of Swanage with the 10:00 this morning. The service was just going out as I opened the bedroom blind and I thought it was about to stall at least twice, but somehow they managed to keep it moving, although you could have probably walked quicker at some points. Very impressive.

Yep, I was the guard, made a respectful departure and then she lost her footing on the wet rail with leaf mulch and rust. She slipped in The Wilderness as well but was tamed.

No risk of lineside fires today. Storm Austen has been and gone but abysmal weather persists - steady rain improving to periodic downpours !
Looking at webcams, and despite rain, the loadings on Flying Scotsman's special trains appear to be good if not completely sold out.
Incidentally, Kitchen Car 1937 [formerly of Wessex Belle fame] has been outshopped recently from repainting into something approaching unlined Olive Green and is included in the special rake - between Observation Car 14 and one of the Maunsell TTOs - so it can supply necessary on train teas/coffees and nibbles.

Before the true arrival of Storm Boelo I popped out to HX to see the first FS trip return. A father and son on the bridge under an umbrella meant I could keep dry in the car and use them as a gauge of the train approaching.
In addition to the gas main replacement roadworks visitors had to also contend with what I understand was the town Mayor's car buried under a tree that came down whilst he was stopped at the temporary traffic lights. Luckily I understand he was unhurt.
Also attached is an image of 1937 that Peter mentioned. DSC_0830-1r.JPG DSC_0831r.JPG
