It is indeed, the plan was to put a Turkish 8f boiler on 44901.

This weekend 31/7 to 2/8 the VOBR is/was running a 143 pacer from the sidings they occupy to the mainline junction. Track is Network Rail so a NR mobile manager in attendance and traincrew from Rail Adventure. Well attended but the pacer will have picked up some scratches.

I watched a video of the pacer running along the line. It sounded to me like the pacer was getting seriously scratched by the undergrowth and will need a new paint job. I think crantock's remark is an understatement!

Bad news from the Vale of Berkeley railway. <BJ>

''Sadly we have to announce that we are cancelling our Santa’s Sharpness Special event. We’ve recently identified mechanical issues with our heritage Pacer train which we can’t be certain of resolving in time for Christmas.
If you’ve already bought tickets we will refund you in full.
Many thanks to everyone who has shown interest in this event – please check on our website and social media, and sign up for our newsletter to find out about other events we will be running in 2027''.

A "heritage Pacer train"? Well, I guess it's a way to start.

They were 35 years old when withdrawn - with the exception of 101s, virtually every other first generation DMU was younger than that when withdrawn. The first Mk1 was only 16 years old when preserved!
