Ultimately price has to reflect the product. And the product has a rarity factor. Blaenau for example hasn’t seen steam since I think 2nd August 2023 when 44932 went. It also doesn’t feature in the regular RYTC programme anymore. But then there’s the costs of running these days which are ever growing, etc.

There are several comments here (and not aimed specifically at this post, more a handy one to hang the response on) and elsewhere on various threads which seem to suggest that WCR have (and will have ever thus) only one set of Mk1 CDL's stock, has this actually been confirmed to be the case anywhere or just the traditional glass bone dry NP approach to anything WCR?

Only one set so far. It's out again today on a RTC diesel charter, this time with the addition of a TSO.

Yeah, your underlined bit is kind of the point I was also making.

I guess it is a question of what you get, normal First Class or something between First and Dining. A normal day is £225 in First so I guess say a Sussex Belle is little different in mileage. There will be hotel costs for staff to add on before you start, but I am sure other things I have not thought of so it may not be that cut and dried.

The GB tours have always been expensive, but back in the day when you could guarantee solo steam and the diesel loco following behind I had some cracking trips doing 6 1/2 of trips starting with GB3 way back

The network is becoming more congested and the appetite for steam to fit in less so

Even if it were MK1s I wouldn't be tempted back to the GBs as too much risk of diesel involvement

I did Stranraer with a pair of Rileys fives and was memorable trip
