Thanks for posting that, Ray !

I can't get over for the Transport Festival, I was hoping that I could squeeze a trip in, but no such luck.
Looking forward to seeing F38 join that line up in due course.

Alas, financial constraints prevent me from attending the Festival this year :( Hopefully I might go at the end of the season when flights/hotels might be a bit cheaper. I'm still anxious to catch Cale before she goes out of ticket!

Details for the Manx End-of-Season Weekend have now been announced--see flier below. But does anybody know about advance ticket booking? The office IM Railways website says that pre-booking would be open from 25th September for those events that require it, but I can't actually find a link to any booking system...? o_O

Apparently Caledonia will be working the 10.00 and 14.00 trains from Port Erin on Sunday, returning from Douglas at 11.50 and 15.50. No word as to whether she will be running on Saturday, however, nor what other locomotives will be running over the weekend.

Good Luck for the weekend trains - at least the weather might be kind [after Boelo !]

I really, really must try to get over for this sort of thing, but my excuse this time is that I'm up in Bonnie Scotland on Sunday - something to do with the sole remaining Aberdeen Corporation tram.

The weather was just about perfect for the final day of the 2026 IMR timetable. No.13 Kissack was working out of Douglas while MNR No.4 Caledonia was working out of Port Erin. The photo below shows Caley preparing to depart with the 14.00 ex P.E."Manx Northern train". Behind the loco is F39 'The Foxdale Coach' built in 1885 for the steeply graded line up to the lead mines at Foxdale. The second carriage is F37 one of the pair of 1899 built ex MNR 'through carriages'. This has been recently restored by Stanegate Restorations to a magnificent standard and we were able to snaffle one of the sumptuous first class compartments for the journey in to Douglas.

Any chance of a sample to know what we might need the dark glasses for?

Oh, that’s fairly tame - it’s not as if Saddam Hussein had opened a Cheesecake Factory ;)

As Tom says, pretty tame but I can see some people struggling with that in the same way that they do with the tread pattern on an escalator.

Now for the doubly challenging task of persuading SWMBO that we (a) really ought to visit Man to (b) experience the transport system....
