    There is an interesting connection between the Ashover and W&LLR. The Jackson family, who owned the Clay Cross Company and the ALR, had a holiday home at Mount Hall, Llanfair Caereinion and in the the late 20s could boast to being able to travel between their houses via two narrow gauge railways. The youngest daughter Bridget Jackson, full name Elizabeth Bridget Huth Jackson, (the locomotives were named after members of the family) inheritated Mount Hall and lived there until her death in 1996. I understand she was a W&L member and was well know to many of the volunteers.
