celestial toymaker, You have always got to be careful when passing on information from within a shed. I managed to piss off a few people a few years back when - being young, possibly a bit stupid and generally nieve I posted a few comments on the Steam Dreams forum and they did not go down well.

how long does Bradley have left (ticket-wise and mechanical condition)? Would this loco be likely to go straight onto the overhaul queue or become a static exhibit?

7802 re-entered traffic in May 2002, and as it happens has just clocked up 100,000 miles in preservation.

I can't directly answer your question about overhauls, but the owning group are turning their attention to building a replacement 'small' tender for the engine: http://www.erlestokemanorfund.co.uk/PDF ... ter-51.pdf

7802 according to SVR news is giving some cause for concern mechanically (according to SVR news) with the boiler deteriorating quicker than expected. This is believed to be down to mainline work and the fact the boiler was overhauled off the railway and therefore the SVR don't know precisely the work carried out. I hope that 7802 does have a working future but this is her second stint in traffic and she will probably require a thorough (& more expensive) overhaul than previously given her mileage. In the past the SVR have generally given such locos a break. I imagine we may see 7819 before 7802 to be honest but I would love to see 3 Manors in steam on the railway.

Steam Railway states that 1501 is due out of the engine house in October for overhaul. Work will include a new smokebox, retube and welding repairs to the firebox. The bottom end is in good order. Maybe 7714 will take her place in the Engine House for a while? 43106 is reported to be due for running in towards the end of August.

The SVR desperately needs an enthusiasts website. Since the demise of 'Floodlines' railway specific news has been terribly hard to come by. The SVR online forum does a relatively good job and Malcolm's operating news is very useful, but the Mid Hants and West Somerset are streets ahead in realising the publicity generated by the Web. When Floodlines was operating it was emailed all around the globe, the railway seriously missed a trick by not using this impressive base to further it's marketing.

Won't the fact that they belong to different organisations have some bearing on which one gets overhauled first?

Thank goodness for that, and about time too. Maybe next time it'll have the correct size tender, and maybe even GWR green instead of BR Green. i guess I'd better come back down to earth, that would be asking too much.

I would imagine that it would come down to money like most things! I based that on the the fact that an appeal for 7819 has been launched and I would hope that by 2012 when 7802 is withdrawn there maybe some progress with 7819 with some or all of the finance in place. How are SVR overhauls financed? Is it solely down to the owning groups to fund or does the SVR provide £ towards the 10 yearly? If that's the case then priority for SVR funding would be towards locos in better condition and/or where private finance is mainly in place.

Given how far off topic this has gone from 75069 maybe we should consider an SVR shed news thread on here a bit like the Llangollen newsy news one! May go some way to solve the lack of website problem too...? :-k

Going even further off topic but it would be good if Hagley Hall was overhauled sometime in the future after the standard four has been rolled out. It must be quite awhile now since she was last in service.

Having suggested the fact i'm going to do something about it! A new thread has been started 'SVR Newsy News' for discussions on all things SVR loco related so discussions can continue on the return of 75069 here. Maybe Mods would like to transfer non 75069 related discussions to there..
