I agree, it looks great, though it seems odd to see "DB" on the front, a reminder that a chunk of British Railways has been sold off and is owned by the German taxpayers now.

It's just joining the fair percentage of Chiltern Trains and Wrexham & Shrewbury owned by DB.
Also, I seem to remember that a middle eastern bank owns part or all of Freightliner.

Indeed, as is normal for a privatised railway.

Love the livery shame about the application.

I estimate they have spent £2.50 on this one.

You only have to look at the ripples in 419's nose end and the rust waiting to bulge through on 670 to see that they havent had much prep work done, probably spared some filler for the biggest holes.

Mind you the lads at Toton have done a great job with what was available.

How long till we see one stored?

10 minutes ? despite the new paint, the internals still appear to be the usual "scrapheap challenge" standard.

It looks as if they used the paint that my younger daughter chose for her bedroom walls!

Smart livery and it sure beats the worn EWS one they've been wearing for goodness knows how long.

So several different photos from different people have managed to photoshop the locos in exactly the same livery as 1 other person and all at the same standard ?

I think the livery looks good, but i'll probably be accused of being paint froth or something.

Well I could not find any other photo's around to be honest, tho I only had a quick look...

It might just be the state of the loco but it looked like a Ficticious Liveries job to me - Not quite right...

Only 37670 has been released into traffic thus far as 37419 is still having work done internally (suprise suprise), 670 should be on the Northern Belle to Oban with EWS liveried 37401 so more pics should appear soon, but in the meantime there's plenty knocking around WNXX.

Appears the budget only stretched to paint and a bit of filler with nothing left to sort out the rust or dents, still if you saw the disgrace that 670 previously was then you'd agree it's a 99% improvment.

A couple of other pics of yesterdays Northern Belle to Oban. Weather improved considerably towards the west coast.

    Ouch, thats bright...

Wonder what it will look like when it has faded and worn through? Probably closer to pink than red!!!

    Hi,

Well, you only have to look at the DB pics on http://www.railfaneurope.net to see what happens to the DB "traffic red" if it is not well maintained. As one knowledgeable person said: "You never stop red from fading".

Try this link: http://www.railfaneurope.net/pix/de/ele ... 45_003.jpg for one of the worst examples. This loco, however was painted with water-based paint which deteriorated faster than other paint.

And here is another one: http://www.railfaneurope.net/pix/de/ele ... 022384.jpg

To be honest, I prefer the old EWS colours to "traffic red" and find the combination of bright yellow ends and the unreliefed bright red sides rather too, well, bright!

    Kind regards

    Christoph

Even more confirmation that 'Monastral Blue' was quite a good livery \:D/
