I certainly sounded odd in the various Youtube videos that have been posted. Does anyone know what happened ? If it was a piston or ring, surely they would have withdrawn her as a failure there can lead to a lot of expensive damage.

It was a start stop time for the first 109 miles from York, no stops until we had to wait for a two car sprinter to pass ](*,)

19 does have a slightly different note to its sister A4s due to there being no vacuum ejector exhaust outlet in the smokebox (I think that's how it was explained to me anyway) but apart from that and the sound of the brake pump she sounds pretty much like a normal A4 in that clip.

Let's await the official word from the 60019 team before speculating shall we? A mate of mine helps look after her and was on the support crew so I'll give him a call later and see what he has to say.

Cheers mate, glad you liked it. Took it sitting down on the platform and with a slight zoom to get under the big mirror at the platform end.

Sods law with the cloud Simon, good footage all the same.

I like the way the driver duly obliged with the chime for the assembled masses. =D>

Not a booked one but 60019 was about 15 early approaching Peterborough so looks like Control decided to halt proceedings until the service train had passed.

    Spamcan81,
Thanks for the clarification. It does not matter if it was scheduled as long as it stops.A lot of possible mile a minute runs are ruined by very slow finishes or crawls to signals which then change to yellow.Well done to Mr Blair for such a good run.

Departure from York was at 16.57, we stopped at signal P500 (Werrington Jn) from 18.33 to 18.37, the sprinter passed us there. We also stopped in Peterborough Station 18.47-18.56 to allow a NXEC service to pass in front. From Huntingdon (on time) we swithched over to the slow line for most of the remaining journey. Kings Cross arrival was 20.43, 11 mins late.

I like that one. That platform is where I spent my formative years, after school watching the action. Didn't often see an A4 go through on the slow though and Wood Green/Alexandra Palace is, like so many other stations, a shadow of what it was.

    Cheers
    Alan

Just spoke to my mate down at Southall.
He says that there is a piston ring problem
that became evident on the homeward run.
Which cylinder is affected isn't known but that's
the next task. Also a slight problem with the regulator
gland blowing through. For those who have asked about the
crest on the second tender, it carries th motto
"forward," the motto of the LNER and the GCR
    before it.

If the cylinder bore hasn't been scored then it's not that big a job.
A bit more fun if it's the centre cylinder though.
