Finally left Maryport for Chatham several weeks ago going via Caledonial Canal through to Inverness then down the East Coast. Reached South Shields today (Tuesday July 28th), departing for Whitby tomorrow. Coal consumption 32 miles to 1 ton, speed nearly 7 knots.

Item about this vessel in last but one issue of 'Old Glory'.

    Excellent news!

How many puffers are left now? I know of VIC 32 and this one - also the vital spark in crinan. Isnt there one further down the coast also?

There's a forgotten one on the Medway - and currently for sale . . .

She was in Penzance for many years as a salvage ship - her engine from a minehunter, bridge from a fishing vessel and mast from a large stern trawler that went aground off Mousehole. Former name 'Crazy Diamond'. She was towed to the Thames around 5 years ago (by Lowgarth) following a period of time at Ipswich as DS Explorer.

    Cheers
