NCB loco identification; help required.

Evening All,

I have just put a couple of pictures that I took in 1964 on my Fotopic site. Unfortunately, I did not write anything on the slide mount so I have no idea where they were taken. The first is of an NCB 0-6-0ST and the second, seemingly at the same place, is of an NCB loco shed with two 0-6-0STs outside it.

All I know is that the location is somewhere in the North East and I am hoping that someone from, or familiar with, that area will be able to identify the location for me and tell something about the locos.

Sorry I can't help with your query though. I had hoped to see Bittern at Huntingdon when she ran through with two tenders, but my controller at Stagecoach asked me to work my rest-day...

 

The loco in the first one is Hawthorn Leslie 2545 of 1902 Bowes number 13 and NCB no 6 area number 24

The second picture is taken at Springwell Bank foot shed and the locos are Bowes Number 16 later area number 27 Vulcan Foundry 5288 of 1945 and the other is Bowes 24 Area number 90 Hunslet 3833 of 1955

 

Perhaps one day we can recreate the two Austerity shot at Marley Hill!

Many thanks for your information regarding these pictures taken long ago at a forgotten location. This has also been identified as the NCB shed at Wardley,Gateshead, at the bottom of the self acting incline from Springwell on the Bowes Railway.

I have amended the captions to the pictures on my Fotopic site and I am much obliged to you for your help.

 

Either of Foxfield's would be available for that I'm sure, although Wimblebury would probably be preferable as it's running \/
