SR article did not say that Jeremy was going to buy 92 Squadron. Read the article fully before asking questions.
Read the thread entitled "92 Squadron, sold?" for your answer.

I just thought that it may be today seeing as there will be a west coast diesel in the vicinity.

You and I seem to be thinking along the same lines John. I asked about when the loco is leaving because I too hoped that it would be today because of the whole Tangmere tour which was organised by the WCRC.

the actual Chimney appears to be sitting on the Tender outside the shed.. presumably the cone/nozzles etc are on or around the loco. inside as it edges closer to a return to steam,
There isn't much forthcoming about the progress of this Loco. not even areport in the KWVR members quarterly, yes it is a privately owned loco but that usually doesnt proclude a mention...

Some loco groups obviously want to get on and do things in peace and quiet (Hengist for instance) others court the spotlight in the hope that extra coverage leads to more Interest and perhaps contributions, nothing wrong with either approach good luck to them all
(doesnt matter how many times Patriot appears in this mag. or that when my moneys on something else though)

Re Clan Line and 75 mph running

One downside of Clan Line running VSOE most of the time is that she seldom gets to stretch her legs. That means you don't often get much video of her at speed (unless they let her through Newbury unchecked on the Bath trips). So the Eastleigh Centenarian was a rare treat. Best clip, for me, was taken at Mottisfont and Dunbridge and is within a really good set of clips at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c85a4RKKqu0. Recorded speed at this point was 77 mph, which I guess, is as fast as it can get within current constraints.

I see in Steam Railway that 34092 City of Wells has emerged from Haworth Shed temporarily while her superheater header is being tested (not yet a full hydraulic boiler test before people jump the gun!). She looks reasonably complete apart from various missing bits of casing and other sundry items, so I doubt it will be too long before she returns. I presume her boiler needs re-tubing? Looking forward to the day when the 'Volcano' erupts once again!

Didn't know this engine was that close to completion but will be fantastic to see it out again, will be sure taking a trip across the border (Lancs/Yorks) to see it when it steams!!

I was also checking the GWR (Gloucestershire-Warwickshire Railway) website recently, and noticed that there's going to be a bit of a delay in the completion of the boiler of 35006 Peninsular & Oriental S. N. Co. because Chatham Steam had to move premises to the former RAF Detling airfield. A bit of a shame, but the restoration group seem to be upbeat about it, as "the delay with the boiler has allowed us to undertake more work on the chassis between the frames, which we had expected to have to do with restricted access once the boiler is back in place." Looks like one to look out for next year, then!

I remember seeing it at Toddington at the 2007 Cotswold Festival of Steam, and even in an incomplete state, it looked impressive. They've done a fine job on the new tender so far. If all goes well, this could be my second ever Merchant Navy class after 35028's trip in November.

I can remember 34060 "25 Squadron" towards the end (Salisbury loco, I think).....well remember a boring electric (no steam choice that day)Sunday trip in 1967, we had stopped at signals when there was a roar and 34060 tore past on the up line, making a lot of noise but no steam or smoke at all, in fact the fireman was leaning out of his window, looked like 100mph from my train!!
Glad to see that she was always a good engine!
Like another rebuilt BoB, 34087......she always seemed a fast loco!.....Again, in early 1967 I saw 34087 tear through Basingstoke on an up train, passed me so fast at a part of the platform where it wasn't very wide due to station buildings it was really quite frightening.....to a 14 year old!

Any ideas as to how far into its overhaul this locomotive is at the moment? As I have mentioned earlier, this particular machine has a special place in the annals of my railway enthusiasm, as it was the first Bulleid I ever rode behind.

I'm not fully in the know regarding Hartland but I belive the overhaul will be speeded up once Eric Tracey is finished but the loco is stripped down more or less completely. Altough 80135 may jump ahead of her. I'm fond of Hartland as well as part of my work experiance in 2007 I was helping to strip her tender down.

Thank you. I hope they put a Bulleid whistle on it this time, as I seem to recall that she had a chime whistle at one point..? They seem to enjoy LNER-ifying locomotives on the NYMR ie. the Kylchap blastpipe on 6617! I'm not complaining, though. 6617 sounded a beast when on the WSR two years ago.
