i see that UK Steam have the movement for 76079 to return to Grosmont from Bury. Could this be its last mainline movement apart from trips on the Whitby line?
Will be a great loss to the big railway if it is.

    Regards,
    John.

Why would it be? I know there have been roumers circulating about the loco's future but nothing confirmed as of yet...

The fact that it is a Light Engine movement and not Engine and Coach according to UK Steam makes you curious. How many Light Engine moves of this distance have you seen in recent times?
Look at the article in latest Steam Railway.

    Regards,
    John.

    One way only.

Yes 76079 is travelling on its own from Bury to NYMR as a one way movement and to be based at the NYMR for the foreseeable future. However, 76079 will continue to have a main line certificate so who knows what will happen? Cant add anymore in the circumstances but I know one person who will be a little sad over the weekend, once its arrived at the NYMR. :-(

As Ian will need a support coach for the new '5' perhaps the one that 76079 has been using was not included in the deal.

In all fairness, I think there will be a fair few people that will be sad. The Cambrian this year was awesome, just as it was last year and from a very personal note, I'm even more glad now what happened at the end of the first week too and the help that I received in organising it. :)

76079 arrived Heywood at 16:10 this afternoon looking very smart complete with
Cambrian headboard, before being added to the service train 37418 back to Bury.

No steam at ELR today, following failure of 2183/No.15.

    At its new home!

I'm glad you have enjoyed it although I'm not sure what your involvement is nor your real identity. However I will add that the person I'm referring too is a "special" person who some of you will know anyway - in simple terms without CB for the last 6/7 years looking after 76079 besides knowing how to get the best out of her too on the mainline, the loco would not be where it is today (not forgetting Ian Riley's and previous owner, Derek Foster's input too).

It is a sad day even for me especially seeing her arrive at the NYMR today (14.50hrs), as I known the loco since it was in Derek Foster's works in Kirkby, then ELR and onto Llangollen before its numerous mainline sortee's. 76079 was even a local engine in BR days, being based at Sutton Oak (8G) which was only about 4 miles away. Going to the NYMR is just not right but circumstances dictate otherwise.

Just to confirm, 76079 now resides inside the loco shed cooling down.
