Here's a taster for the coming weekend - 11 years ago on the NNR we recreated a late 1950s King's Cross suburban train with the N2 in BR black and a set of Mk1 subs. This weekend with the loco in GNR green and a teak Quad Set in tow we will recreate the King's Cross suburban train of the early 1920s.

    Lovely photos Steve!

I'd agree that the BYP would be best as previously stated. Will M&GN 129 be about for the event? I'm assuming not as it is under cover at Holt Museum at the moment.

It's not long now though is it? On the photoshoot side, things are very ready. I've been knocking up a few signs and things, hopefully it should be a cracking evening!

M&GN 129 has a problem with the brakes, so AFAIK will be staying under the canopy for the foreseeable future.

As long as you've bought a ticket and have some form of proof it isn't a problem. Tickets will be on sale on the door as well so there's no need to worry!

(I know I've posted this bit up in the Photoshoot thread, but to spread the word....)

GOOD NEWS! You can now buy your tickets for the Open Shed and Shoot in advance on the NNR Website!

I've been going over the shunting diagram for the evening and (subject to checking by co-organiser Dave), there are 13... yes, 13 different photo set ups during the photoshoot in the yard - that's a lot of shots for £7! There will be a number of themed set ups - ticket holders, please enquire via PM! The evening will end with a big Great Western copper top theme (no prizes for guessing!) which will with no doubt look absolutely cracking!

Although the shoot is scheduled to end at 11pm it may be that due to circumstances out of our control it will run over, so please be aware of this fact if you wish to get all of the shots being set up!

Out of interest, for those attending the photoshoot, what are your preferences regarding props? We could probably get a couple of footplate crews to stand in suitable poses if necessary?

For those of you attending the Photoshoot, the Open Shed should have some good photographic opportunities as there will be an area in the yard where you can watch locos come on shed - so don't miss it!

    Any questions - please ask!

    Cheers,
    Owen

Aren't there any flood lights on the building for outside at Weybourne?

The lights will provide the necessary light (they're sodium floodlights) - however the very nature of the photoshoot (a night time shed shoot) would suggest that long exposures and tripods are the order of the day!

Back in February I remember getting a shot of the L&Y as they were chucking the fire out - it was right up the end of the yard but with a three minute exposure it came out better than I expected!

Any news if a full WTT is going to be available, i.e with the loco allocations?

    Just too add to owens comments;

The 13 Shots (Confirmed) will feature both lineups and individual shots. All six locos in the 'shoot' - it was felt there wouldn't be much interest in Ring Haw compared with the more glamorous locos, as well as making diagramming a lot more complex - will sit over the pit, or next to it, for at least 8 minutes, maximum of 20 at a time. In addition, there are seven lineup shots, featuring the most obvious combinations of locomotives.

For those who know the Yard at Weybourne, it will be much easier to photograph one side of locomotives than the other, though for certain shots it may be possible to light both sides of the locomotive. It will be good if people aim to keep movement to the minimum, for safety reasons.

There are FOUR floodlights available for us to use. We have chosen to move the shoot away from the shed up the yard to reduce the risk of unwanted light (from the sheds etc) getting into peoples shots. You may remember DACE that we had one floodlight out in the yard near the shed in February. The four lights are all similiar to this one, so we will have more than enough light, without reaching saturation.

This is mine and Owens first attempt at organising an event like this. It will almost certainly not be perfect, but if you have constructive criticism to offer, i'll be delighted to hear it. (It's probably easier to speak to me than Owen - he'll be doing the shunting, whereas i'll be on the ground in a more crowd control / checking we've got the angles right capacity)

ALSO - THERE WILL BE NO RAIL TRANSPORT BACK TO SHERINGHAM OR HOLT FROM THIS EVENT

Matt; - WTT will be available in the gala booklet purchasable on the day. I believe that it might be possible to buy one on Thursday if you ask at Sheringham. They've only been printed today though!

I have decided to go up on Thursday to, see Truro before the major crowds.
It will also give me chance to set up camp.

Only a few days left and I can't wait.
I'll be writing DACE on the back of my high viz so there is no excuse for not finding me :)

I've been told copies of the WTT with loco allocations have been printed today and will be on sale for £1.50.

Everything is very quickly taking shape and the yard is beginning to fill up with locos - I believe the N2 is here tomorrow. There's a bit of shunting to be done in the yard but come Friday everything should be in place.

For those of you coming along to the workshops on Friday evening, I'd recommend coming for the Open Shed too, as locos will be coming on shed from around 6:45pm to 8:00pm. We'll hopefully have Truro in the Shed over the washout pit alongside the WD.

For the photoshoot, for those of you that vaguely know the yard, those of you taking photographs will be situated on the Sheringham side of the Ground Frame Hut looking towards the pit. A safety briefing and information will be given before entering the yard to begin the shoot - which goes without question as it is a working yard don't forget!

Owen has said what I was going to tell you!!! All I will add is that all stations will be open at least 30 mins. before the first train, timetables are available with tickets. There is a BBQ at Weybourne which will be open in the morning, and the tea shop on the station should be open from about 0830ish.

    See you all there!!!
