Anyone know of anymore lines who keep everyone updated via this new social networking craze? I've only discovered www.twitter.com/svrailway so far…!

    Just curious!

The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway are on Twitter - http://www.twitter.com/gwsr

This is run by the official website so we don't tweet endlessly just when we have some announcements.

The Lynton & Barnstaple Railway has a Twitter presence at http://twitter.com/woody_bay and also a group on Facebook, at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=28406680127&ref=mf

Both of these are intended to encourage an interest in the railway among younger people, and to highlight news items posted on the main website.

Twitter is a social networking "micro-blogging" site - it lets anybody post messages to their own page, and receive messages on their page from others they are "following". It restricts messages to the same size as an SMS (phone text) message. There is a fair explanation on Wikipedia, or follow the link in my signature for an example - the L&B Twitter page...

It isn't a direct equivalent to Nat Pres etc, not necessarily advantageous, just a different way of sharing information

    Hope that helps

Thanks Martyn - it doesn't help much though, if your webmaster sets something up, but doesn't tell you about it...

Wait till I speak to him...

Llangollen supposedly has one according to our website, though instead of providing a link to it, there a note just telling you to search for Llangollen Railway...
