Steam Dreams website has posted timings for Sunday's run to Exeter and back to London via Bristol.

Before anyone queries Salisbury to Exeter St Davids without a water stop, remember that 60163 has a 6500 gallon tender. I understand that equates to 105 miles between water stops as opposed to the "normal" 75/80 miles for 4000/4500 gallon tenders.

    Cheers, Neil

From UK steam info the morning train movement is lead by a diesel from Grove Park to Orpington then reverse. I assume either Tornado will haul it for that leg or will a diesel be attatched to the front, then it will run around at Orpington to reverse it into Waterloo? Thanks for updated info.

For anyone filming the train today, there will be speed restrictions at the following popular locations:

15 mph speed restriction at Wood Road (113m,2 ch) 1 mile west of Templecombe.
30 mph speed restriction at Stowell Road (113m,40 ch) at the summit near Milborne Port.
20 mph speed restriction. River Axe flood opening (146m,13ch) at the bottom of the incline before Seaton Jct.
30 mph speed restriction at Platt (149m,44ch) 1-80 incline, 1 mile west of Seaton Jct.

    Thanks to Roger Smith. <BJ>

Through Wimbledon on time. I was on a footbridge just outside the station with about 17-18 other people when she changed from the slow to the fast line. Will post a shot a bit later.

Is that at Newton St Loe, near the Globe roundabout?

I'm guessing you don't like "Tornado" then. :)

Unnecessary remark, makes no contribution to the forum, sadly also as this one.

Sadly I’m away with work so was unable to see the trip or travel so can anybody who was on the train say how 60163 performed? I can imagine they had a go at Whiteball with the bridge restriction apparently lifted.

Passing East Hatch just west of Tisbury. A little bit of artistic licence with the rolling stock. :)

It was a fantastic trip with 60163 and her crew. The climbs of Honiton and Whiteball were very impressive. Upton Scudamore was a bit more laboured but still a powerful show from the mighty A1. Also plenty of fast running made this trip a joy to travel on. If anyone has video of the return run through Andover I would love to see it as she was flying along through there. Don't have statistics but Mike Notley was on board in the support coach (until Bristol where he quite literally bailed out!) so there will no doubt be a report in Steam Railway soon.
