The L&Bs Annual Autumn Gala this year features L&B engines ‘Axe’ and ‘Sid’ in steam together for the first time.

Also new at Woody Bay is a 7¼ gauge railway with visiting engine "Otter" from the Beer Heights Light Railway at Pecorama.

There will also be exhibits in the marquee and several free attractions for children.

The Tea Rooms will be open for refreshments as usual, and also available will be Real Ales and a Barbecue.

For more info, see the L&B website

Sid has now returned to Woody Bay after overhaul, and although still being run-in, will be in steam next weekend for the Autumn Gala, see a couple of images HERE.

Sounds like you'll have a good 'do' - all the best with it.

How long will "Otter" be present there, do you know? I unfortunately can't make it this weekend (gutted!), but would relish the chance to see it performing on a different line. For those that haven't come across "Otter" yet, he's a handsome, well proportioned beast of a loco - oh and the chime whistle is gorgeous....

I'm afraid I don't know at the moment, but I suspect Otter will only be at Woody Bay for a couple of days either side of the weekend.

Sadly, I won't be there myself either, but I will get others to photograph the event, and I'll post as many as I can on the website, which I hope will at least partly make up for the disappointment!

Woody Bay Gala - this weekend

Some more info on the L&B Gala this weekend ...

There will be exhibits in the marquee including:

Eldon Sidings by Peter Hollins. A 7mm scale layout which depicts Eldon Sidings near Corfe Castle before 1948. This siding was where clay dug from the pits at Norden was transferred from Benjamin Fayle’s 3ft 9in gauge tramway to the Swanage Branch of the LSWR for shipment to the potteries of Stafford.
Shedly - an imaginary country station in 4mm:1ft OO gauge by George Sims.

Martin Andrews, a regular volunteer guard on the L&B will, together with his brother Colin, have a collection of air driven and live steam models dating from 1909 to the 21st Century.

Also appearing will be several stalls from other heritage railway groups, local organisations and for the children free attractions including a Punch and Judy show, magic tricks and Face-Painting.

In addition the children of Parracombe Primary School will be selling home-made sweets and inviting artistic contributions to their Big Draw art piece.

The Tea Rooms will be open for refreshments. There will also be Real Ales on sale and a Barbecue.

    All Day Gala Ticket Prices:
    Adult £7
    Senior £5
