That goes past my door which is most unusual. Unfortunately I might be at the GCR gala. First time I've known a railtour to have a destination of Watford Junction though!

    Cheers,

    Paul

I take it the 'Blackpool Illuminator' trip has been scrubbed, then. Shame, as I was going to stay at Crewe to see 5043 go through after doing The Royal Scot to Carlisle.

What a pity that the Blackpool one has been cancelled, spoilt the chance of an A1, Duchess and Castle on the same day..

At a guess i'd say pathing on the MML was behind St Albans being caped (the idea of going Watford is to hop on the Branch there it seems), anyone know where it would service after terminating at Watford ?, if it's going ECS down the WCML to Willesden to go somewhere in London it begs the question why not go through to say Kenny O ?, i know steam can't go into Euston.

Where would a loco on the Blackpool intinery turn ? Faringdon jcn ?, no obvious great problem with that itinery so must be something we are unaware of.

Be a bizare sight to see Swindons finest tearing through Rugby!.

I believe the plan was to take the Castle off at Preston then it could be turned as you say at Faringdon.

Great shame about change of destination and day as I'm on the Carlisle trip with 6233 and will now miss the castle. Oh well.

I've noticed their website is not very good at explaining things, they just add or remove tours at will with no explanation. The Blackpool Illuminator (on the same date as this one) is one example, it just disappeared.

Again pathing is the most likely explanation, not really of great suprise on that section of WCML really...
