    Lovely shot at Garsdale Phil.

Does anyone know why she was restricted to 30-ish thru Blea Moor tunnel and stopped after exiting to be examined?

I wish I had known that whilst waiting for my train from Wigan Wallgate to Atherton! I was stuck on a platform full of drunken pie eaters! ;) (if anyone is offended by my comment I shall edit my post, being an adopted 'lobby gobbler')

After a few near misses I finally (&a little embarassingly that it's taken so long) saw Tornado for the first time at Carlisle yesterday. It was too good an opportunity to miss given we were returning from Scotland after a week on hoilday and with the added attraction of 6233 as well! What a locomotive and a great credit to all those who have contributed financially and given hard graft over the last 19 years to create her. Thank you for enabling me to see an A1! I look forward to catching up with her again and having a ride behind her on the SVR.

Many thanks Stuart, although they're not as cracking as your Tornado shot.

Tornado was restricted to 35 mph through the tunnel by Network Rail.

Dunno the reason for the stop, but my impression is that the crew were checking if anything was running warm. We got under way after a couple of minutes, and the running didn't seem to be inhibited.

    Cheers

Apparently it slipped in the tunnel quite heavily.......

Here's my shot of 60163 arriving at Preston. I had to leave as soon as it arrived, so I could only get this moving shot. As it was still doing about 15mph I had to use ISO 6,400 and f2.8.

Fifty photos of the Cumbrian Mountain Tornado now online.

Hghlight of the trip was a very promising run from Carlisle towards Shap. Tornado covered
the 8.25 miles from Penrith, mostly at 1 in 125, in 7 mins 34 seconds. Unfortunately, we were following - and gaining on - the 4M16 Grangemouth - Daventry Tesco Express, and no records were broken.

Swiss Toni - the Langworth photo

Best action photo I've seen of Tornado so far. Like an Eric Treacy in colour.
