Just hope the smaller engines get at least as far as Ramsbottom (32 & 1370 please!)

Sounds like the industrials will actually be used this time then, sounds good to me!

 

Visiting loco should be K4 61994 The Great Marquess.

 

32 and 2183 are on the Rammy shuttle. 1370 is working as station pilot as it can only go between 10 and 15mph so it is confined to bury, at least there's 3 industrials working It will be 32s first passenger train as 32 Gothenburg since around 1991-2. Due to masquerading as a little blue engine since then, so i cannot wait for the gala.

 

71000 won't be taking part as overhaul not complete.

 

Yes 32 is going solo on the Rammy shuttles so come and support the industrials.

My "ideal" gala set up with the locos we have is; 61994, 45407 and a permanent pairing of 2183/47324 bunker to bunker on the 3 sets all day, 32 Rammy shuttles and 1370 pottering about Bury - really hope this happens.

 

Would prefer 2183 and 47324 top & tail for more noise ;-)

 

Yes also 32 will be doing a photo charter on the Saturday morning of the gala, 2183 will be doing one on the Sunday morning. More details to follow soon.

Would be nice - there arent many different possibilities anyway! Lets face it, 1 set will be 45407, 1 61994 and 1 47324/2183 (double headed/T&T/alternating), we know this much is pretty much certain so surely it's a case of assigning a rake of stock to a loco? (im fairly sure 45407 & 61994 are both dual brake so even thats not an issue?)

 

99% sure 61994 isn't dual braked.

I thought ELR has three sets of Mark 1s, which presumably are vac or dual - Maroon, Caramine & Cream and Blue/Grey, with a Mark 2 air set used by the diesel fleet?

It is a while since I have been right down the line - I just did Bury to Heywood twice when I last visited last year.

Well done to all involved at the steam gala today.

Very impressed at the show that was put on.

The pairing of 15/47324 all day bunker to bunker was great, more at the 2010 galas please!!

Enjoyed a run to Rammy with 32, great little loco, first time I have seen it in action.

Could (for example) 15/32 work a 6 coach train like 15/47324 did today, or is that too much, idea for January/February events?

Pleased to capture 1370 shunting in Bolton Street as well.

Can anybody explain why the sets were swapped at 12:40 today at Bury?

The 12:38 arrival from Heywood forming the 12:50 to Heywood and the 12:34 arrival from Rawtenstall forming the 13:00 to Rawtenstall, with 61994 and 15/47324 swapping trains.

Swiftly done mind, with no delays.

Runs to Heywood with 61994 and 45407 (16:50!!!) were impressive.

Thoroughly enjoyed the visit and especially liked the "small engine" theme with 15, 32, 47324 and 1370 in action.

Looking forward to the 2010 early steam galas with interest, hope the negotiations are underway for a good line up.

The problem with putting 32 on the full line services is that it doesn't like really going more than 20mph, it can do more but its not good for it and the bottom end is already knackered. It coped with 2 mk1s on over the gala but to say it used to be able to drag 6 up the line shows how indeed of the bottom end doing it really is.
