Just some further info re the half-term timetable, 24th Oct to 1st Nov inclusive:

Subject to the usual caveats, the plan is for GNR 1744 to work out of Kidderminster at 10-30 (except on the 24th) and 1-40 pm, and out of Bridgnorth at 12-10 and 4-10pm.
60163 shown as on the 11-00 and 3-00pm out of Kidderminster, and the 1-30pm and 5-30pm out of Bridgnorth.
It is unclear where 6024 will slot in, if indeed it is to work on a regular basis, which has not been confirmed as yet.

To maximise line use whilst there are no passing facilities at Hampton Loade, there are short workings Kidderminster to Highley at 11-40 and 2-10 ex-Kidderminster, and 1-05 and 3-45 ex-Highley.

It's fascinating to read all this. I'm one of the service drivers from Bewdley that week and I have no idea what I will be driving!

One thing for certain, jtx. It won`t be 82045. What a pity!

We will be out and about all next week hopefully recruiting new members to The 82045 Fund." First a Tornado, then a fresh breeze on the SVR!"

6024 is on display in the new catering siding (by the museum) for the duration of Tornado's visit. Excellent value for my member's rate of £7 today. 57 miles of steam, 4 steam locos in traffic, with another 2 in steam and on view. Tornado looked magnificent and handled the 9 packed carriages with ease, was nice to hear it working up to the tunnel. Star of the day was the N2 tank with an absolutely barnstorming performance out of Highley towards Arley as it reversed a 10 min late departure from Bridgnorth. The acceleration and noise was incredible and it made the 8 carriages look non existant. Should think they heard her right down the valley! Will be sad to see this loco leave, a real surprise package and seems quite at home on the SVR..;)

Yum! You have whetted my appetite, Alan. I know I will have this machine on 8 coaches on 2 or 3 days next week. Now I'm really looking forward to it. I've already been told it's a pretty gutsy tool.

Let me know your thoughts! It gave one heck of a performance when I travelled behind it at the autumn gala too. You can certainly tell it was a commuter engine, when the driver asked for extra on Saturday it gave it in bucket loads..enjoy!!

Equally looking foreward to the N2 on Wednesday, with Tornado "viewed from a distance", I dont like crowds....!
Can I echo Alan's comments above about Members rate travel. To my mind membership of any Heritage line that you visit even on an occasional basis is well worth the money.
Members rate travel, a magazine, and the opportunity to join in and help.
    Has to be a bargain!

Lovely day at the SVR yesterday (between showers!) Only (very slight) disappointment was that the N2 was on the Highley Shuttle, not the 10:30 full-line diagram as suggested earlier. Worth checking before you leave home...

Manor and Stanier Mogul were great supporting cast. "Tornado effect" very evident: every vantage-point full around Eardington when she passed, but Safari Curve desserted when 2968 stormed up to the tunnel in golden light about 4pm.

Is the plan still to turn Tornado for the end of the week?

The plan Matt is she's going to be turned Wednesday evening so i've been told. So shes got 4 days of running South, the problem with her running South is only 1 photo opportunity in daylight of her running Chimney 1st!!

I went over yesterday (Monday), mainly for a trip behind the N2 but also for Tornado. The car park at Kidder was full by 10.30 and the place was heaving. The N2's trains were pretty full, Tornado's were rammed but the shuttles to Highley were nicely loaded so I did a couople of them. They also had the bonus of Erlestoke Manor, most entertaining loco of the day!
The sun for the 3.00 off Kiddie hauled by Tornado was just high enough to highlight the train as it left Sterns so there should be a few good shots there from the large gallery.

    Hey,

Does anyone have any photos of Tornado on her final run from Bridgnorth on the 24th October?

I was wondering whether I am in any of them, mainly because I was on the footplate

    Thanks,
    Lewis

The light at Tenbury Wall was gorgeous on Tornados last run to Bridgnorth yesterday and was also just about high enough for the top of Eardington. I went home very happy after those 2 shots yesterday :)

More's the pity that 60163 is to be turned. Rather minimises than maximises photo opportunities.

    I'll second that! ;-)

And Matt, you didn't lose me round by Highley -after a temporary glitch in my mental GPS I made it to Hay Bridge in time for a rather pleasing glint/pan shot. Light was a bit low for the conventional front 3/4 at that spot but well worth the chase from Tenbury!
