Mobile websites

Discussie in 'Links' gestart door West Somerset Wizard, 5 nov 2009.

I've been working on a cut-down version of wsr.org.uk that is suitable for use in mobile phones. It can be found at:
    m.wsr.org.uk
which is quite a short address to tap into a mobile phone (especially for dinosaurs like me!)

The content is limited to the latest news headlines, thumbnails of the three latest pictures, train times and locos for the current day, directions to the WSR termini, and some contact details. I think the content is the kind of thing folks might want on a mobile phone, rather than the whole wsr.org.uk website. The limited content means the load time is pretty fast which is another consideration for mobile phones users.

I'd welcome user comments by PM or by email (see main website).

And it'd be useful to know if other heritage railways have a similar product?

The GWSR site doesn't have a dedicated "mobile" version as yet, we get a very small percentage of visitors from mobile devices (less than 1.5% of all visitors since I relaunched the site in July). I would be quite interested to know if others think it is a worthwhile avenue to explore.

Nat-Pres should do a version as many people are "out & about" watching tours etc & like to follow progress. Everyone does not have access to netbooks, pda's, Blackberrys etc.
