I was at Vauxhall this morning and the guy next to me was on a mobile to the footplate guiding them to the spot for the 2 mins silence. Any idea who that aws?

I also saw her in the evening at Selling where the diesel was leading Tangmere, at Sandling (video to follow) where no diesel was in site, Tangmere leading and finally at Dunton Green (video also to follow) where the diesel was back on the back? Anyone know what happend there!?

Apparently, the double-heading from Faversham to Dover was a NR requirement because this is the leaf fall season and they didn't want to risk delaying South Eastern services. The Faversham - Dover timings were tight and a more generously timed path wasn't available.

The diesel came off at Dover and ran to Folkestone East sidings then rejoined rear of train at Sevington loop so it was at the right end for the ECS move out of Waterloo.

I believe there's also a rule that the diesel must not be on the rear through the tunnels between Dover and Folkestone, as the tunnels have limited clearance and, in the event of an emergency requiring evacuation of the train within the tunnel, the presence of the diesel would hinder evacuation via the corridor connection of the rear coach.

Back from another superb day out with Steam Dreams. The 2 minute silence was very touching although sadly 4 minutes later than planned due to the late arrival of the stock into Waterloo. Both Spitfire and Malc are correct in what they are saying with the original plan being for 34067 to work alone to Dover where 37706 would have detached from the rear and follow light engine to Sevington loop to re attach at the rear. The 37 was on the rear all day due to it being required to turn the whole train on the Sittingbourne triangle. I can confirm that it was supporting 34067 regularly on both the outward and return legs from the rear.

A good trip but a little frustrating. I hope the excessive "banking" is not going to be a regular occurrence on the rest of the SD Christmas programme. Surprisingly it wasn't just enthusiasts complaining yesterday. Surely 34067 hadn't run out of sand?

I wonder if that is still the case though. Wasn't the reason the line was closed recently during the summer to carry out work on the tunnels to permit SE's Javelin service to travel through them because they do not have end corridor connections?

No it hadnt run out of sand but, has anybody actually wondered that the driver on Tangmere had requested assistance? The diesel driver has said that assistance was called upon due to requests from "up front"...... The guys know what they're doing by the road and gradients so however frustrating it may have been for the passengers, needs must!

Quite rightly so LN850. I did pay my respects when Big Ben sounded. Due to the stock and engine arriving late into Waterloo for whatever reason, the tour arrived outside Vauxhall about 3 or 4 mins late unfortunately, but was nice however that they still stuck to the original plan and gave numerous whistles before pulling away to also show their signs of respects.
