The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway would like to announce that Class 165DS 0-4-0 diesel shunter known as "Kirtley" is now available for sale to be moved. The locomotive has poor external bodywork but is generally operational apart from minor repairs.

Full details can be found at http://www.e-v-r.com/stocksale.htm

The deadline for expressions of interest is 30th November 2009.

Unfortunately, in this day and age the transport cost is something else significant to consider.

Thank you for that, it is a very interesting guide - maybe a similar thing to a "it leaves when one comes in" thing could be arranged.

hi thanks. the option of moving it in exchange could work. I'd have to say no at the moment as:

    -no where to store it
-would only be able to go at most thirds on the cost so finding somewhere would be problematic.

    Regards

    Duncan

Mainline transfer possible? Might be a bit cheaper...

Just to clarify my earlier post I am not interested in buying the diesel.

I wouldn't have the money and/or time avaliable to give such a project justice at this stage and so my efforts are probably best directed towards helping on other restoration projects going on elsewhere.

I think we would just like the loco to go to a good home so that it can see some use!

Where do you buy a shunter loco I thought the internet would be up to date withinfo but there are adverts that are over 5 years old from what I can gather and as for prices They don't excist not even in a guide line price " Looking for just above scrap price" but what is scrap price Well that depends on what part of the country you live or the loco resides The selling price or the buying price Then there is the copper to consider To find a guide price is How long is a piece of string On top of that there is transport costs To get a quote is nearly impossible You cannot ask for an extimate They need to know if you own the loco but you don't know whether to buy till it is costed and you cannot cost it.Spares seem to have dried up also Therefore you are looking for a donor engine but its hard enough finding the principal engine. These locos now are starting to get rare and scrapmen are buying them wholesale to cut up Forums like this one often say there are many around but where are they Why is it such a secret Surrounded in mystery and suspense I wont go into the sealed bidding arena To buy a loco is difficult enough but when you get told the loco doesn't necessarily go to the highest bidder says it all really So where do you go to buy a shunting loco?
