    Hi all

After recently reading the bluebell railways website i noticed that they are trying to get funding through the people millions to restore this carrage for disabled user. I think this is a excellent idea as it makes railways more accessable etc.

Would this make a preservation first?

Anyway to vote on this you need to vote on the 25th November between 9am and midnight

the link is below and the number will be given out on the day.

Agree its a very good idea, I'm not sure the conversion of a 4-wheeler to a disabled coach is a first though, I think the Isle of Wight have previously done one of theirs; I seem to recall it being entered in the rolling stock awards a few years ago.

I recall it was not a brake, it was a North London Railway 4 wheeler that could easily be de- converted back to the original profile.

Someone will prove me wrong on this one.

I don't think there is a specific coach there, though the Chatham push/pull driving trailer has suitably wide double doors and a wheel chair can be carried in the saloon part of the coach.

Anyway, regardless of who was first, it's a good idea and I'll certainly be voting for the project on November 25th..

    See http://www.iwsteamrailway.co.uk/pages/timetable/t_tables.htm near the bottom.

    Hi
You may be interested to know that there is a 4wh carriage at the isle of wight steam railway that has been very carefully converted, so that the exturnal apperance of the carriage is a close to original as possible.

The carriage is LCDR 2515, have a look at the picture of it in the stock list in the railways web site. See if you can spot the double doors!

    Cheers gary

It is SR 2515, I can't remember its original LCDR number. This was a carriage that had been modified a few times in the past so has made an ideal carriage to modify one last? time.

and yes there are two Southern Railway carriages with the same number. 2515 is of course a Bulleid brake on the Bluebell, this was built after the IOW carriage was disposed of.

It will be interesting to see if the Bluebell have to go through all the paperwork that the IOW did to run 2515.

Well on the uni bedroom landline it only cost 1p each time, so it seemed rude not to try it on the phone in the living room as well. So that's 20 more votes!
