Thanks for the comments, but the video camera decided to switch itself off too early.

I have checked the map, and found that I was at Gatcombe, althougth I had parked at Purton.

Nice pictures and videos everyone. She was really going a treat at Basildon, near Goring. Two shots of her swirling exhaust and something a little different!

You're welcome. Isn't there also a shot from further back/round that includes the White Horse itself?

Its certainly possible to shoot from around and near the White Horse, but I don't know if its possible to incorporate it into a railway photo. I was using a 70-200mm lens at around 130mm. I would imagine that it would be necessary to use a much wider angle lens to get enough of the horse in to be meaningful, but that would make any train so small as to be almost invisible. A shot including Dragon Hill would work though.

The shot I recall seeing was definitely a "train in the landscape" type shot. Had the white horse off to the right and the train was approaching/passing the cement(?) works. Got the impression it was taken from somewhere along this track.

Wrong line. You're thinking of the Westbury white horse above the Berks and Hants railway. The Blue Circle cement works is next to the railway. The town of Westbury is approx one mile to the west. <BJ>

Now I've read properly D1059's first post I realise that I had indeed got the wrong white horse in mind. The mention of Uffington was rather an obvious clue if I'd read the message right through.
