Actually, the bunker is the only bit that hasn't come off. It's now painted outside in first topcoat, and inside in rubberised white paint. The frames and wheels are all painted and lined.

The side tanks are also up to first topcoat. This week should have seen the boiler trial fitted, and the tubeplate aligned ready for riveting.

Didn't 'Terrier' 2650 "Whitechapel",or otherwise known as 'Sutton' carried a altered version (as KSER No 10) of Southern Green?

I have to say that the Colour-Scheme looking by the photo I have just seen looks a complete difference from the tank to the sides etc... Is the rest of the loco going to be painted to match the tankside?

I'm guessing you're looking at a part-finished paint job; and moreover photographed in a dark shed with uneven light - so the livery will be a bit weird looking!

In this photo http://train.fotopic.net/p62352655.html she's only part painted (especially the lining); for example, the valence is chalk-marked for the lining, but is as of that photo unlined. The steps and tank fronts will also be lined, and of course the dome cover is also missing - the plan isn't to send it out with a red dome!

i dunno what it is, but it seems to me a bit of a waste and shame that Birch Grove wont be running between christmas and new year.

Plus, bluebell are making a big song and dance of the fact that their trains are steam hauled and steam heated, but most are anyway.

Plus, 9017 and 80151 on mark 1's really isnt imaginative.

Why not 672 on the mets, and 592 on the southern set???

Given that the christmas trains will have no problems attracting visitors whether B473 is used or not, from a commercial point of view i'd think it makes much more sense to leave her first trains till the new year when the railway is a lot quieter and they can have a dedicated event with its own publicity.

Somewhere deep in the giants of steam thread Richard Salmon was saying about Mk 1s being lighter on maintenance and running costs than Bulleids or the older stock, I expect that's why they're favoured during this busier time.

But I do notice that 592 isn't used nearly as often as 9017 and 80151 a bit more than 1638, any thoughts?

EDIT As seen from the photo earlier she wasn't yet finished as of the 1st of the month and it's best not to throw her in at the deep end during the christmas hols period and give her a few weeks to run in

Not mine I'm afraid, although I wish they were! These are from the railway's unofficial photographer Derek Hayward.

Also one of his photos in another set show exciting progress on 178:

Yes, they are good photos but Derek is an official photographer and has the paperwork to prove it! He's also the designated photographer to record the Woodpax development as it happens.

Oh I see, is Andrew Strongitharm also an official photographer? You see quite a number of his shots on the website and in the Bluebell News.

While on the subject of railway photography, why is fotopic the site of choice for many photters? I tried it a couple of years ago but I never really got on with it, I find Flickr to be more to my liking.

Great news although I think it frustratingly clashes with the MHR Goods Gala.
