Recovering from a very nasty bronchial infection so pacing my "recovery" before I head to the Snowdonian mountains for some hard work over Christmas and New Year. And some photos of the WHR if they run over that period!

So didn't go out to see 34067 today.

But got a report from brother Don of an on time and tremendous climb of Gomshall, from Milton near to Dorking.

Hopefully Don will post something here when he gets home. Not sure if he is chasing or not.

Would love to see any photos or hear any news from anyone else out today.

    Tangmere to Oxford

Yes Bryan she stormed past me at Milton on the lower part of the climb to Gomshall sounding superb. Regulator clearly in the roof which is where it should always be on a Bulleid

Nice one Don. Couldn't get out, but by pure chance I spent the afternoon typing up timing logs from the last time you and I timed the Redhill-Guildford line together. 22nd November 1964, and 2 return runs, (4 runs in total). 3 with N class 2-6-0s and one with a BR standard 5.

I imagine Tangy didn't have to stop at the crossing between Gomshall and Shalford as a mid day train used to in steam days. We did on that November day in 1964. To drop off water churns, picking up empty ones. Presumably from a crossing keepers hut. Those were the days!

Passed Gomshall on the return at around 20:05. Was about 2 degrees on the platform but she looked and sounded great in the cold, still evening.

Here's a short sound clip from just before Gomshall near Shere. Church bells and the odd car but still sounding good.
