Good to hear the Duke is lined up for the event. How is 71000 these days? Seems to have been quiet since the summer.

Looks like a good line up but sadly will be back at uni in exams by then.

    Regards

    Duncan

Without wishing to start the hackneyed 'industrials vs BR" debate, what are the chances of getting the Austerity, "Gothenberg" or the Peckett out to play?

Coincidentally, exactly the same as the chances of me turning up ! I'll leave it to the ELR to decide what those chances are :D

This event is now up on the main website as a 'BR weekend'...

44871 is to make it's debut according to the website. Locomotive Roster will be available from 'mid January'...

It actually says that it will be the Event Debut of 44871. By this I assume it means that it will be the first time that it will be used on a Gala etc.

This is pure speculation on my part of course, but if it is having main line testing next week (20th/21st), it surely will have some sort of run out on the ELR first? Watch out this week, maybe even this weekend perhaps on a Santa?

44871, the Duke & Marquess should be enough to tempt me providing there's no clash.

Doesn't Bolton St - Buckley Wells as a shuttle lends itself to Industrials ?

They're on different weekends. ELR is the 23rd/4th, while the GCR is the 30th/31st. Hence 45407 appearing at both!

And I'm not sure if the line to Buckley Wells is passed for passengers. Tho if it were a T&T shuttle, at least to the gates (to save having to have the Baron St Crossing constantly manned) could be an added attraction (crew and coaching stock dependant of course)

Fair do's. Would certainly be an extra attraction then.

What would interest me would be if it were to be operated as an industrial branch, where an industrial takes a rake of wagons from buckley wells to an exchange siding in Bury (or the station itself), which was then taken on by a BR loco and vice verse (Though how much that would differ from just having the pecket as Bolton St pilot with a couple of wagons and how much it would interfere with the timetable in reality I don't know.)

Might be worth the trip up to Lancashire to see Riley's newly restored Black 5!

Are ELR going to find a replacement for 71000?

Is there any information as to why 71000 is unavailable and does this impact on the visit to the CVR ?

The CVR have been assured that 71000 will be at the CVR gala. A sign of commitment to this is that 71000's support coach has arrived at the CVR where it will recieve some repairs and a repaint.

    Regards

    Chris

ELR have announced that the KWVR based 'WD' 90733 will be visiting for the steam gala next weekend. This in addition to 61994 The Great Marquess, 44871 and 47324 with 32 Gothenburg offering 'turn up and drive for £10 at Rawtenstall. 71000 still not available which must put the CVR visit in serious doubt.
Seems that Mr. Riley's influence as CME is working - with 70013 and 30777 to follow in February, things are looking up for the ELR.

Wow I wasn't planning on going but I am very, very tempted now!

Are there any freight turns? Also what chance of some early morning freight runpasts at Burrs with the WD as in past years. More than happy to pay/travel for shots like we had with the Jinty and 4F a few years back!

Also is it there long enough for some proper charters?

    Cheers,

This looks very appealing now, well it did anyway. Think I may go along and if it's possible get a lineside pass. Is it possible to obtain one before the gala or indeed on the day?
