What a wonderful stunning photo of Bittern Keith, the snow and icy conditions certainly enhance steam photography.

 

Looks like you had the some problem with the steam blowing down on the sunny side as I did at Welwyn North.

Here's my effort taken between Hitchin and Letchworth.

 

Any news of the return run. Hoping to step off The Tynesider and see it on the blocks at KX. Tynesider is 20 late at Sandy.

 

Just seen a report that 60019 is expected 60 late, was 42 late at Cambridge. A preceding local is having problems.

 

The rare time a steam special is coming and I was called in
Now I have to wait until march to see steam on the mainline :-(

No.19 eventually arrived approx 110 late!

 

Oh you are kidding! I was on 23.06 from KGX this evening. I only just made it, otherwise I would've been on 23.22 and seen 60019!

So what happened? Rumours of 60019 having to 'refuel' at Cambridge on Stevenage platform last night.

 

We were delayed between Norwich and Ely by due to football fans causing problems on the preceding service train. As a result of the delay, 60018 had to take water at Cambridge which involved detaching the loco and support coach and back through to the north end of the station.

 

Wow, I didn't realize "Sparrow Hawk" was still with us, looks like there is some truth in those rumours about the strategic reserve!
