A quick reminder that the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Railway is featured in the Michael Portillo railway journeys series tonight (Wednesday) at 6-30pm on BBC2. Looks as though he rides in their vintage train.Does he meet Mr Middleton? We shall see!

70013 also made a very brief appearance at York. If you blinked though you would have missed her!

Was surprised the NRM wasn't mentioned even briefly. 70013's appearance was very brief!

Why should the NNR get a mention in a clip featuring York?
    Or did you mean NYMR?

good to see a nice portion of the programme devoted to the E&BAR,very nice coaching set, good to see the ability to get ones head out of the window to admire the view, also good to see the people of york being shown in positive views towards trainspotting/enthusiasts rather than it usually getting a negative media representation.

also surprised national railway museum didnt get a mention, but then was it established as such around the time of bradshaw????

I think that's the point, he was looking for things that related to whenthe Bradshaw guide was published in Victorian times. That was why he went to the museum where they had the ancient skeleton, mentioned by Bradshaw, and the Victorian hotel in Scarborough.

Nice inoffensive series though, well narrated, and mercifully without any "fancy" modern camera work or effects.

    The Portillo journey next week--from the trailer--includes a trip over the S & C behind 46115.
