Apologies if the following is common knowledge but a search of the forums hasn't shown up anything.

Adjacent to the NW side of the Kirkaldy-Cupar line about 1 mile NE of Kirkaldy station is a small yard which, for many years, has held a number of indutrial locos possibly Hudswell Clarke design. I know nothing more about them.

Just in case the info had by-passed the heritage movement I felt a short post would be in order.

Is this not where Lakeside rescued their AB tank from?

I think you're referring to Muir's Yard which held a quantity of Barclays of varying designs for many years. Most, if not all, have now found homes and some are back in traffic. No doubt someone will be able to give more info

Thanks for the interest and quick replies.

Muir's Yard is in the right spot.

Nigel, There are certainly still locos in the yard. Whether they have been 'reserved' or not I've no way of telling.

The locos at Kirkcaldy are the ones from Muirs at Thornton, there was a discussion on here some time back about them but I cannot find it now.

These stored engines were originally at Muir's yard at Easter Balbeggie, and were moved to the current location mentioned above when the first location closed. here is some info I have dredged up by the wonder of Google!

-Andrew Barclay 2183 of 1943 ( "Austerity" 0-6-0ST) is the one that Andrew Goodman has restored, and I think it currently resides ( or did reside...)on the NVR, in chocolate brown livery.
-Andrew Barclay 2157 of 1943, 0-4-0ST, now restored at the Mangapps Farm Railway in Essex, in black "Royal Ordnance Factory" livery.
-Wemyss Private Railway no. 16, Bagnall 2759 of 1944. No details
-Wemyss Private Railway no. 17 , ? builder, 2017 of 1935. No details.

Hope this helps. Martin above is quite right, we did have a thread on this subject two or three years ago, and there were images of the stored engines at the new location, only a couple if my memory serves.
