Does anybody know (or have pictures of etc etc) how many lights were in the vestibules on preferably a Gloucester or maybe a Swindon Cross-County first gen DMU?

    Cheers.

You could try Gloucester County Council Archive, where all of Gloucester's old photos/drawings etc are held.

Good suggestion. We've already got most of what they have and they don't shed any light. Might have to resort to guesswork!

Could also try SRPS with both its Class 126 Swindon unit and - presumably - plans of the original Inter City units that were precursors to the Class 120 trainsets from the same builder at Swindon; also a full Class 126 available for inspection !

Does the old wiring in the vestibule ceilings still not exist/ That should tell you how many lights were in there.

It was converted to strip lights in the 80s which of course means it is completely different.

Have you had the ceiling panels down? The framework to the panels may well still have the original lighting/air vent mounting points. I would suspect that if there were lights in the vestibules then they would be the small ones, not the 'standard' saloon sized ones.

I'm starting to suspect there might not have been any lights in there but I think we are going to put one in anyway. We don't want people falling down the platform edges!
