The replica of Stephenson's 0-2-2 'Rocket' is currently at the Avon Valley Railway in Bristol. It is there for a few days for running in purposes and has been trundling around the yard this afternoon. A report is due to be shown at 6:30 this evening on BBC Points West.

Thanks for the tip-off, Free2grice - both on here, and on SWRailGen! Much appreciated.

I popped down this morning, to find "Rocket" in steam, performing runpasts for TV Camera crews between Avon Riverside and Bitton. It certainly looked unusual in its surroundings - a bizarre sight! But pleasant nonetheless. It seemed to be quite nifty, with an impressive bark when climbing the gradient back to Bitton. The AVR staff were very welcoming and friendly - plus the ham, egg and chips in the cafe was excellent!

A lowloader was parked in the carpark, with ramp attached; therefore I assume it can't be staying much longer. The staff reckoned it would be off on its travels again (back to York?) on Thursday. Can anyone confirm this please? Apparantly it was on the Breakfast/Lunchtime news today as well, so I assume it will feature tonight - although I'm unsure of how prominently.

    Cheers,

    Phil.

NRM 0-2-2 'Rocket' ( replica ) still chugging along nicely at 17:30 in the dark but now on the northern section towards Oldland Common. What a wonderful sight and sound. The loco is due back at the NRM in time for Friday. <BJ>

Sounds good, can't wait for the staff training sessions!
Yes, it is due to land at York on Thursday if all is well.
