Regarding the drive a loco trips, can anyone confirm that these are to go ahead? It's just, looking at the timetable for Saturday, there doesn't seem to be a loco stabled at Cheddleton for much of the day!

    By my calculations...

    0854 - 0930 D
    0930 - 1100 C
    1354 - 1445 B
    1524 onwards C

Assuming there won't be many takers for drive a loco trips before 0930, we can probably discount the first option.

Then, allowing for loco B to come off the train, take water, and for the crew to have a tea break etc from 1354, there won't be a lot of time for drive a loco runs before it has to take the 1445 out, maybe 10-15 mins max? Ie 2-3 people!

And, unless I'm missing something, that's the only time a loco is stabled at Cheddleton between 1100 and 1524?

    Driver for £10 will be taking place at Cheddleton;

    Sat
    09:30 - 10:55 - 30075
    14:45 - 15:25 - 5199
    15:25 - 16:30 - 30075

    Sun

    09:30 - 11:40 - 30075
    12:30 - 13:55 - 5199
    14:00 - 15:25 - 30075
    15:30 - 16:30 - 5199

Locos only take water at Froghall with the exception of 30075 which may require water at Cheddleton due to its smaller water capacity

    Regards

    Chris

As posted on here 71000 will not be available for the Steam Gala next weekend. The CVR were advised on Wednesday that the engines overhaul will not be completed in time.

A suitable replacement loco is currently being sourced and should be announced in the next couple of days.

71000 will still visit the CVR at some point this year when an additional Steam Gala will be held with another interesting engine that will be announced in the near future

    Regards

    Chris

Also isnt this new forum rather spanking, well done Glynn and Ally.

Any news on a replacement for the Duke? I'm guessing the timescales are extremely tight.

We are working on getting a replacement loco in, it is proving to be a hard task as everybody seems to be doing their winter maintanance in the winter!

A haulage company has agreed to bring in a locomotive on friday if needed - we just need to find a loco for them to bring in!

The bit of good news is that 80072 arrived today.

    Regards

    Chris

No news yet but I predict it will be Stanier Mogul 42968 which is short-term loan to the GCR for their gala and won't be needed (on the basis that they've got Lamiel, two black fives, 48305, 78019, jinty, N2, O4). Moving her back from the GCR via the CVR will reduce haulage costs.

Or it might be the N2 which atm seems a bit unloved by the GCR management which aren't keen on engines not in BR livery.

    But that's pure speculation btw

I predict it will be 42968, which is currently at the GCR. Returning to the SVR via the CVR saves a road trip and reduces haulage costs.

Or it might be the N2.

    Just speculating.

Yes 5542 will arrive at the railway on Friday for Steam Gala.

CVR would like to extend their thanks to Andrew Goodman, the Gloucester and Warwickshire Railway, Reid Freight and the owning group of 5542 for lending us the locomotive at such short notice.

The gala will now have a tank engine theme. 80072, 5199 and 30075 and currently at Cheddleton.

I will post a revised timetable to accommodate 5542 later today.

    Regards

    Chris
