It's good to see that the CVR has reduced it's fares now that the Duke is not available, should be able to do both days now. Long live the tankengines.

Yes it is a credit to yourselves and the GWSR for agreeing to lend us an engine 3 days before our Steam Gala. Hopefully we can return the favour in the future.

    Regards

    Chris

Unfortunately I decided against the 500 mile round trip this weekend, David is also in a meeting today so he won't get down today, he says he may nip down tomorrow. I look forward to everyone's contributions.

Weather today, or at least until 1pm ish was pretty good. Very bright and frosty early and sun and some cloud later.Having travelled M5/M6 at around 7am and back at 2pm the 'murk' appeared to be generally in the Brum area only. Worth the extra mile to see a good loco, I say (but then I would)

Very good day at the Churnet Valley yesterday. Photos now uploaded onto my website for everyone to view.

And I now know a new way to get there now, by means of the No 16 bus to Cheddleton from Hanley.

Very good gala, 1,000 times better than the 'anything goes' mess! Good selection of locos, all of which behaved - and some of which were nicely vocal!, only minimal delays, a selection of trade stands at Cheddleton, and a timetable which managed to avoid getting repetitive, despite a lineup of 4 locos. Spent part of the day on the trains, and part of the day on the lineside, £27 well spent!

Very Nice gala depsite the iffy light on the Sunday, performance award goes to 30075's Volcano on departing Consall, worth £15 by itself!, few pics now at: http://david1984.fotopic.net/c1812690_1.html

Do i take it the CVR are a little short of operational stock currently ? that second rake was the definition of mixed!, anyone know if it's true some berk complained to the Pub Landlord about smoke drifting across the shot ? if so words fail me considering it's private land and it doesn't do the rest of us any favours.
