Ok, with four weeks to go, who else is doing this? Kensington Olympia is dangerously close to the excellent White Horse on Parson's Green (take the District line on the Wimbledon extension). Very pricey, but the beer is very well-served. There's also the two near Euston itself (the Doric Arch, can't remember the other one). Sorry, I don't know about any Winter Beer Festivals on this trip!

 

Would i be right in assuming Mr's Churchill & Poole don't sign the WCML ?, Certainly Bill Andrews on a LMS Pacific from Euston has a ring to it...

Are there any other gradients of note other than Camden & Madeley ?.

 

Ray Poole has certainly driven steam out of Euston in the the not too distant past.

I'm on this trip just for the day out (one of the privileges for working my fingers to the bone at TYS :violin so I'll be able to quench my thirst for a change.

 

Yep, I suggest a NatPres deputation to go there for one or two pints, and beat a fighting retreat in the Euston direction to find cheaper grub (although, it is LONDON we are talking about, but I know a pub near Leicester Square tubestation that does reasonably priced burgers (again for London)! Its not far from Motorbooks, which is reputed to be Britain's oldest surviving transport enthusiasts' bookshop)...

Hmm, good point. They say that they keep their beers for around a month to settle before serving, so I'd better look to get an idea what they'll have... It has been known that they have up to sixteen beers on the go, and even more bottle-conditioned stuff, so its not a case of a beer list, but a beer menu!

Update: Hmmm, Cottage 'Golden Arrow' goes down well, and I'm not saying that because I'm a Southern man.

I must say, I never thought The Sloaney Pony would ever become the recommended destination for railtour participants! There was a fairly broad, if expensive, selection, on offer, just before Christmas.

Shame it's not a 6 Nations weekend, as you have could at least guaranteed it bring shown on the screen, rather than soccer.

Oh, the other popular one around Euston is the Bree Louise. Can sell up to 14 ales on top of their regular beers. Not been there before, so will be a required stop on the tour.

 

That looks a more likely bet than The White Horse, no beer prices on the website so I assume they will be typical Central London Prices but the food is quite reasonably priced.
