    On Monday, 8th February, the Dart Valley Railway plc sold the freehold of the SOUTH DEVON RAILWAY to the South Devon Railway Trust for £1.00.
    The Trust had previously bought a 199 year lease of the line in March 2002, for £1.15m. The freehold could not be transferred until the making of a Transport and Works Act Order, which was achieved on 2nd December 2009. The Order came into force on 30th December, 28 days notice of intention to purchase the line issued, and completion was on 8th February.

    The South Devon Railway will now embark upon the fund raising for the development of the Buckfastleigh site to provide coveerd carriage accommodation, a new loco shed, installation of a turntable and much more.

    What I would of paid £1.50!!! Being serious it is good to see the purchase of the line completed - this should allow development to proceed much eaiser than before.
