Maybe not Lapworth. But there is a fair amount of engineering activity going on at the south end of Tyseley Station, which has something to do with water.
I'm sure the locals on here will confirm this.
Make of it what you will!!!!

    From VT website:
"Whilst current regulations do not allow an attempt at beating the 98mph recorded speed that 5043 achieved during its June 3rd 1958 Bristolian run, provision of a specially adapted vehicle will ensure that water stops will not be required en route"

It could be that the specially adapted vehicle is the tender being fitted with a water chute.:)

Everyone's looking at this from a far too scientific angle.

Due to the credit crunch good weather cannot be guarenteed so rain is a distinct possibility.
Each passenger will be given a boiling pan upon boarding.
Each passenger will hang the pan in a 0 degree position from the window of the train with either their left or right hand
When the pan is full, with their free hand they will operate a relay passing the boiling pan in a westerly direction to the next person internally in the vehicle.
One person will collect the pans and tip the contents into the tender through the support coach door.
The trip is going in a circular motion back to the point of departure to ensure any missed drops of water are scooped up on the return.
At the end of the trip each passenger can collect their pan and keep it as a souvenir.

Anyone who knew thier stuff would know that locos on the mainline can't run with a water scoop anyway, I assume this is because of how low they hang. Look at any certified loco's tender and the scoop won't be there!

Hmmm odd. I was always under the impression that mainline locos couldn't have them, at least that what I was told. It does seem that most locos dont have them anyway.

My personal favourite was the idea of 5029 running alongside with a hose! :)

Think you may be getting ATC and the scoop confussed, I believe scoops ave to be locked in the up position, but atc is to low at 2" above rail level now so has to be removed.

If I am wrong sorry, it is just what I understand the current situation is, but I do not go on the mainline, rather deal with proper freight engines!

The obvious way to do it is to post somebody with a full watering can on every overbridge, between Paddington & Bristol, and leave the tender filler lid open:)
