old EMU overhead wire maintenance on low loader from preston???

    At about 4pm March 2, I noticed one carriage of the old four set EMU, which is stabled in the works siding north of Preston station, being moved off site on a low loader wagon. You know: the four car set of blue+white EMUs used as overhead maintenance units. anybody know where
    it is going to? The truck pulling the trailer came from Warwickshire.

    All the coaches & 2 cable drum carriers have gone for scrap to Ron Hull Jnr at Rotherham.
    They were in fact all ex coaches originally not Emu's.

    thanks steve, what a shame, surely they'd have been of some use to some preservation societies.
