The Adult 1 Day Rover was the same as the last 2 ASGs and the spring gala last year (maybe more but I only started doing SVR galas in 2008 so I can only go on what I know) if booked in advance so whats the 'substantial' difference? I am still classed as a child and didn't think the rise from £10 to £12 was all that bad. Some railways even want more for gala rover tickets for in my mind a lot less than what the SVR put on.

The SVR Two Day Rover for the seniors is competitively priced at £28. I can't comment on the rest of the pricing regime, but £28 is what it will cost on the GCR and WSR. Personally I think it's good value for money, two days out for 28 quid - good value.

Thanks for the earlier postings about the loco directions, most useful meant I got an extra hour in bed!

Great weather conditions yesterday and a good effort from the SVR.

An adult day rover has increased from £17.50 to £21.50 (over the counter) over the course of the last 3 or 4 galas and an adult day rover on a normal operating day has gone up from £13 to £14 to £15.50 this year over the same period of time. This does of course reflect very competitively with other railways and of course does include the Engine House. My comments weren't meant as a criticism of the SVR as I did enjoy the gala, I was merely looking for reasons as to why this gala seemed less popular as it was a shock to see so many empty seats at an SVR event. The SVR had a really bumper year last year and it seemed to be running against the trend. From conversations with others over the last few days the lack of a 'big name' did deter people. Perhaps a loco such as Leander could have been brought in for this gala or maybe even 'City of Truro', (which whilst never being a permanent resident, did have a infamous stay at the SVR during GWR 150!), may have made a difference. This was very much an enthusiasts event, but unfortunately enthusiasts alone don't always pay the bills despite being very enjoyable for us. It will be interesting to hear if the SVR consider this event financially succesful as despite there being fewer punters loco hire fees and steaming fees would also have been lower than a big engine event and therefore a lower break even figure would be apparent.

Thanks for the comments, was good to bump into some famaliar faces. And David you are so right, I've had a few unsuccesful trips to the SVR this year so I guess this made up for it!

Awesome weekend thanks to all at the SVR... although I did pop away for a trip with Lizzie on the Saturday lol.

Sunday was picture perfect all day... even right to the end when the sun just didn't seem to want to set. It was well worth hanging around in the rapidly dropping temps just for this

I did have to put up with talking to Matt and looking at his greased back hair though - somethings are worth paying the price for ;-)

Thanks for that. I haven't yet been down in that field (Dropping Wells Farm). I have filmed from the ridge above it and from the bridle way that leads from the A456. Good location.

Popped into Bridgnorth on may way to Telford yesterday - the K4 was parked up in the yard facing south.

Stopped by Bewdley on my way home in the afternoon and was in time to see 7802 take the ECS back to Kiddy following an EMF charter - nice bonus for a journey home on a Friday afternoon but just a shame there wasn't a bit of sunshine to go with it!
