After the malicious statements that was aired about WCR on another thread that was locked I'd be surprised if you get anymore information from them, funny is'nt it slag them off then expect information, decant hard working people in the steam preservation movement get annoyed and fed up with all the bitching and personal insults just like another valued member who got fed up and left, you know who I mean, he started his own forum and loves Black 5's.

WCRC has no duty to tell you, me or anyone else on this forum a thing regarding test runs, progress of overhauls/repairs etc. If you feel that's unsatisfactory then "tough cheese" matey.

I agree with your comments. However would it not make good public relations if they did provide info occasionally.
They do tend to keep things to themselves don't they, which in my view only adds to the fire.

Why should WCRC publicise test runs? particularly when they are still working hard getting things done, and will probably not be sure until perhaps the day before that the run is actually going ahead. If they said there was going to be one next Tuesday and owing to circumstances it did not run, then you would moan about that. Dammed if they do and dammned if they don't.
We all know that they like to keep things to themselves and that's the way it will possibly always be, most of us live with it.

The comments I referred to were on the Cotton Mill thread, IIRC you had a post removed from that thread.
As others have already stated WCRC do not have to tell us anything at all if they so wish and that is something we have to respect and live with, sorry.

There is a way to get this info, it's called UKsteam.info and is the valuable resource for us enthusiasts on the web. Info generally appears there WHEN the the movement is confirmed and more importantly LIKELY to run. Unfortunately some people are too impatient to wait for this and they are usually the same ones who are disappointed when things don't happen. Test runs are as the name suggests for test purposes and therefore will only happen when the loco is ready to be tested! WCRC have worked miracles and are probaly the most important resource for mainline steam today. They work quietly and efficiently and have restored one no hoper to showroom condition and are working on another even bigger wreck, whilst continuing to supply a sizeable steam fleet and crews. They do this and still get criticised...some people just don't realise what we have here. They don't need to shout out what they do and when they are going to do it. Patience is rewarded as far as West Coast is concerned, they will deliver when they are ready and when the time is right -that we can be sure of (unlike some restoration groups who suggest a date and still haven't got a working loco years later). Doesn't a little mystery add to the excitement?!

No West Coast does not have to tell anyone on here anything if they don't want to. Palace Gates was one who slated them and had a post removed on the Cotton Mills thread, so you yourself have contributed to" not making good public relations", if they DID publish date and time of test run and for operational reasons it did not take place, it give you something else to moan about, and it would be you adding fuel to the fire.

Just to make it clear to everyone that the reason for my post on the Cotton Mill thread was deleated was the recording of the number of failures that there has been.Bad publicity.

It is their right to do exactly as they please.

I have edited this reply (I've chopped most of it off), I can't do with the hassle any more.

You don't have to clarify anything. We have to move on in a positive manner without reopening old wounds.

Lets enjoy our mainline steam while we can and be thankful for the people who allow that to happen.

So who is travelling on this one?

I am quite happy to move on.Lets hope that we get offered trips that are good value and do not have a sting in its tail.
Late changes for me do affect my enjoyment of travelling on these trips. And yes I travel mostly not that much interested in linesiding now.

after all the waffle, (and I'm THE WORST) looks like we're getting the military themed double header everyone hoped for, not forgetting its for a charitable cause for the heroes of conflict who need support when they've done their bit.

could someone post the address of the relevant charity perhaps.

My source now says that it is unlikely that 46115 will be ready in time and 48151 has been pencilled in as the alternative.
This begs the question, do we actually need two locos, surely 70013 can handle this alone, unless it's a big train??

The 8f also has a lower maximum speed hasn't it? Wouldn't that affect the timings?

I think the 8 is linited to 60 so yes it might affect the timings especially on the Leeds to York section.
