I eventually got to Golborne where it was a couple of minutes early and Scotsmans bridge near Tebay where I think it was bang on time. I did a run past vid at both locations so I could do some stills as well. Certainly a roaring monster and I acan see where people are coming from when they say 70013 is loud!

Isn't it a reference to Ollie's German twin, 03.1010, which is known to the German "dampffans" as The Roaring Monster?

Had an enjoyable afternoon, waited for 70013 to pass Birkett Common. Pitty there wasn't sun like there was in the morning. I regret not missing uni now :\

I've uploaded a photograph from the video clip, got some great sounds. I'm not uploading the video clip like yesterday. It'll all be on the Part 2: Spring Steam 2010 DVD.

Record shots again, to add to what I said earlier, OC is loud and seemed to be taking the 12 coach load towards Shap in her/his stride, has anyone got any times please for the northbound run?

Thanks to the 70013 guys and eveyone else involved in todays run. Ralph, Phil etc thanks for the updates on progress.

I was told that by Shap summit speed had dropped considerably, possibly below 20mph, can anyone confirm this?

21mph over the top at Shap summit according to the GPS, would have been faster if it weren't for the TSR at Tebay. Anyone got any film of it coming through Oxenholme please - that noise was eyewatering from the support coach! Magic day, thanks to all!

Just listened to the sound recording from Shap and she does sound like speed has fallen at the summit, lovely sound, although Langho tonight was fabulous from a standing start I presume at Clitheroe?

Hit the bottom of Shap at 55mph, so 21 at the top with 12 on the back was quite respectable. And yes, the climb to Wilpshire summit was just sublime.

Had a great day out linesiding today, thanks to Roy and Ralph for the updates they gave us.

Got one of my best bits of vids yet at Shap so thanks to the people who helped with the directions, time was tight, and saw me running (what,me,run....this will never last!) from the car to the summit but i made it with about 5-10 mins to spare,so all was ok,then went to a spot just south of Langwathby, stood in position for about 40 minutes for some berk to come and stand directly in front about 10 seconds before the Brit powered round! Dad was on hand with the 'Little' camera,so all was not lost :D Got another great bit of vid at Ramsgreave and Wilpshire on the return, the sound at Shap was simply awesome, guess that is another box 'Ticked'!

I was told it was the first Brit on Shap since '67,is this right?

My photos from Shap and just south of Langwathby are now up at:

    http://mark-walker.fotopic.net/c1827162_1.html

The 'The Roaring Monster' headboard was certainly appropriate!!

My vid is currently getting uploaded, managed to get 9 minutes out of today, which is pretty good considering on Thursday afternoon we hadn't even realised we could go to see it!

    Cheers,
    Mark
