My Return

Good morning ladies and gents

I'd just like to thank you all for your kind messages both by PM and on the "bring me back" thread. I'm very sorry that 46236 was banned as a result of his actions, after all, we are all entitled to a view whether we agree or not, but it did lead me to a bit of a reality/sanity check. As some of you have rightly surmised, I have been looking to see what's been going on and some comments at work yesterday have led me to consider what I'm doing now.

I don't understand the world of computers much, but I do know that despite people having left the forum in the past, many chief engineers and General Managers and Directors continue to read this forum on a daily basis. This was communicated to me yesterday by my line manager, and has made me realise that I ought to be here on a professional basis - and thus only here during works hours - although I may look in after hours occasionally.

So I'm back on an as and when basis, so forgive me if there aren't regular posts, but as I see is already in use, please keep an eye on my blog - you'll not get matters of state or gossip on it, just basic reporting of what's going on.

And for the record, I am not a professional railwayman, I am an industrial archaeologist, but I have been a railway volunteer for 22 years now, 20 of those on the footplate and a museum bod for the last 13 years. Yet I am only human, so I may mistype things or forget...please bear with me.

May I be the first to say welcome back!

 

The RSS feed from your blog is potentially the best piece of PR from the NRM for ages. It's got variety, people, insight into what lights your personal firebox, as well as the facts about your NRM projects, and lbnl, lots of photos. I wouldn't be surprised if a few other websites are/soon will be taking it. By the way, have you noticed a few duplicated posts in it, from your wintertime blogs? Might be just my PC but I don't think so. Just a hint so you can find an IT person to show you how it happened.

I think that the last week was a wake-up call for regular NP posters too. As in not to take people and their info for granted, and not to confuse questioning with being snide. All's well that ends well I hope, and look forward to your blogs as and when they come.

Thanks for reconsidering, Anthony - great to have you back again - it's a shame that one or two individuals on here can spoil what is a generally a fantastic place to exchange views and learn an awful lot in a mature manner.

Welcome Back Anthony I've always found your info quite interesting and useful, especially regarding the Scotsman as I've always had an interest with her ever since I saw her as a young lad crossing Hookhills Viaduct in 1993, hopefully in due couse I'll find time to come up to the Museum and make one of my visits I've always wanted too.

 

Sadly not Ralph, as it's eldest daughter's birthday party, however, it'll be one heck of an event if today's practice was anything to go by...blog entry coming soon!
